film
I don’t have such well-ordered scenes
Having stumbled through life
With many different partners
My life, unlike yours –
A single roll of film with one woman –
Has been a series of spliced frames
The editing is rough
Things are jumpy and abrupt
The plot is disjointed
There is no central story line
It’s so scrambled
Not even a series of short stories
The film doesn’t flow smoothly
And the color’s off
So I look away from you
With your single roll of film
Your beautifully tended life
No edits, no splicing
No digital gimmickry
Just one smooth love
What a story line
What a masterpiece of filming
What great production and direction
And the Oscar, please ….
