reunion
This is not the way
It was supposed to go
I was taught the fairy tale --
A degree, babies, a nice house
And one husband
Be a good girl
And you’ll be taken care of
The years will go by
And you will grow old and gray together
And attend your reunion
And people will say
Isn’t that sweet
They stayed together all these years
Only it all fell apart before
The flowers dried in the wedding bouquet
All fall down, into the woods …
There’s a witch in every fairy tale
Things don’t turn out pretty
For all of us
They’re rough and bumpy
And you hold up your head
And go to that reunion
And smile
Because you still believe ….
