incurable

Just for a change
I'd like to be
An incurable romantic
Full-time 24-7
Never need to toughen up
Or switch off to keep from getting hurt
Just go full-throttle
Until I am nothing but
Heart, raw emotion
And irrational energy
Then I would be
Truly who I am
In the meantime
I have to keep a lookout
For the Keeper
Because technically
You can't be a romantic
Alone
Finding that Keeper
Is tricky business
Hard to find, hard to trust
One false step
And you're back to being
Rational again
So until he comes
I'll keep up appearances
Somewhere between crazy and divine ….
